Description: The United States Mint did indeed produce a one-dollar coin in the year 2000. It was the Sacagawea dollar, which featured a design depicting Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their expedition to the Pacific Ocean. The coin also featured her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. The reverse side of the coin featured an eagle in flight designed by Thomas D. Rogers. The Sacagawea dollar was introduced to replace the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin.
