Description: A printing plate from a 1965 edition of the New York Post was used to make an impression on a painting of the American Stock Exchange. Perhaps a new way to look at post-impressionism? Get it? NY POST? An IMPRESSION? 😄 Anyway, a few years back I had this unique painting reviewed. Here’s the assessment: “This is a vintage, mid 20th century, mixed media work featuring a view of Wall Street in New York City. Actual printing "plate"(?) from the August 9, 1965 New York Post American Stock Exchange Closing Prices page seems to have been used to press/emboss all of that pages information onto a piece of artist board. Over this the artist then painted an image of the actual American Stock Exchange building. This is signed A. Caldwell and dated '66 for 1966. It is rendered in an illustrative style. Size is 15.5" x 10.5". Frame size is 22" x 16.5". “ The only correction I need to make on that is that the painting was actually done first. Then it was embossed with the printing plate/type. Such a unique work of art. I have not been able to find anything like it online anywhere. This would make a great gift for that financial guru/Wall Street guy you know. Of note, the print seems to have come loose from the mat board slightly (see photos). If requested I can cut the paper on the back and reposition the print myself. Contact me anytime for more info or if you have any questions. I answered everyone. Buy with confidence, full money back guarantee. Thanks for looking!
