Description: This is a beautiful and rare Bitossi pitcher designed by Aldo Londi in Italy. It is marked ‘1143 Italy’ on the bottom. Since it was hard to make out the mark, I contacted the Bitossi museum/store in Italy by email. I got this reply: the ceramic you send us in the photo was produced by Bitossi for the Raymor Company in NY in 1958 and bears the number “1143 Italy” on the base, which is barely legible but has been attributed to this shape. Later it was also offered to other customers. The shapes are based on a design by Aldo Londi, Bitossi's historic art director. We invite you to visit the Bitossi Museum Archive, which will be open to the public in 2021 on the occasion of the company's centenary. Please note that the pitcher weighs 6 pounds, so shipping cost will reflect that.
