Description: For sale here is an exquisite vintage 1950s patinated black on bronze bust of an Asian Woman by Vietnamese artist Nguyen Thanh Le (1919-2006). Primarily known as a painter, she also did a series of finely detailed and exquisitely graceful portraits of young Asian women in bronze. This is one of the rarer designs that isn't seen as often on the market these days. The bust is cast in bronze, and given a black patina, then mounted on a painted black wood base. Measures 11" tall by 5" wide by 4" deep. Marked at back as shown in my photos. (Another from this series sold at Christie's Hong Kong in 2016 for just over $4000! Nguyen Thanh Le was a prolific Vietnamese artisan with a shop on Thu Do Street in the former Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City.
