Description: Rare 1943 Jacksonville Naval Air Training Ctr Miami Hurricanes Football Program. This is a rare World War II era program from the Miami University Hurricanes at Jacksonville Naval Air Technical Training Center Air Raiders football game on October 2, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida. Inside is a photo of Rear Admiral A. C. Read, Chief of Naval Air Technical Training, as well as Commander R. D. Higgins (Commanding NATTC), Commander W. H. Cushing (Executive Officer NATTC), and Lt. Col. W. T. Evans, Commanding Marine Aviation Detachment NATTC. The coaching staff included Captain Fred F. Frink USMC, Lieutenant John G. Holmes, Lt. Randall W. Weeks, and Ensigns G.E. Fry, D. E. Grimes, D. W. Christiansen. The Air Raiders team included many players who had played some college football. The program also highlights the Aviation Machinist's Mate School, Aviation Metalsmith School, Aviation Ordnance School, and the Aviation Radio School. Program is 9" x 12". Condition notes: Cover has a long crease (see closeup photos), rest of program was also bent along the same fold, but is not creased. Other wear and signs of handling.
