Description: An extremely rare original antique hand- colored wood engraving titled “ A Sketch Showing a Riot at Detroit, Michigan. - An Attack on the Negro Houses in Beaubien Street” made from a sketch by a Civil War artist and which appeared in the Pictorial Battles of the Civil War produced by the Sherman Publishing Co., 1884-85. The engraving is matted, unframed, and overall measures 16 inches x 20 inches in landscape format enclosed in a protective plastic envelope. Hand written inscription detailing the engraving on verso.
