Description: We are pleased to be offering a possibly unique James River & Kanawha Co. advertising cover (Military use) from Richmond, dated 8-17-1863! The Canal company started as an idea of a young George Washington, and ended in ignominy in 1877. What canals were built were heavily damaged during the Civil War. The stamp may be #11c in Light Greenish Blue. Also, this may be the only Confederate cover by a company that issued their own Currency! Some mounting remnants are seen on the back, but nothing tragic. Shipping: $5.00
