Description: This is an Estate Fresh old 1800's COPPER & BRASS SAMOVAR HOT WATER TEA POT COFFEE URN from a longtime collector and dealer of Asian Antiquities and Artifacts. It was an amazing collection and a once in a lifetime sale for those of us that truly appreciate Antiques and Antiquities. This whopping 23" tall Samovar Trophy Shaped Urn is complete, save the missing Spout, and is in nice condition as described above. Unless you can find a spout though, this will be a display piece only. The piece has an incredible look, the height and the graceful handles which are reeded all the way to the shaped Leaf attachment to the body. And I love the big heavy ball feet this gem stands on. This is a high quality made piece without a doubt. Its at least 1820s in my opinion and could be from the late 1700's. The heavy cast iron base underside tells me that. It has great lines, a striking form and its nice and early! The only marking on the piece is a capitol " P " on the mount plate for the spicket. Just a great example of a good copper and brass Samovar. This was the Estate of Brian Hand Derrick (1932 – 2019) locked away for a couple years while the family sorted this amazing collection. He was a graduate of Queens College in NYC with 3 Master’s Degrees including an MBA. He served the Air Force retiring as a Major, then worked for the Government traveling and living all over the world. He bought at Auctions all over as well as from “Ancient Art” – London’s Leading Purveyor of Antiquities. His collection was a wide range of interesting items and I was fortunate enough to garner several nice pieces for both myself and to pass along to other collectors.
