This candle stick is decorated with an attractive Flint enamel glaze in a rare “tortoise shell” decoration, with the yellow ware clay showing through. Measuring 7 ¾” in height and supported on a 4” wide base this stick survives in its original mint condition with no damage or repairs. These candle sticks were made from 1849 to 1858 and are photographed and described in Richard Carter Barret’s definitive book “Bennington Pottery and Porcelain”. Bennington Pottery candle sticks are highly collectable and rarely come on the market.
