Description: Radio Shack Tandy Corp Realistic Tape Head Demagnetizer 44-211 (As-Is) Description Up for sale is a vintage Realistic branded Head Demagnetizer. This unit was sitting in a box that had some alcohol spilled in it and was forgotten about for a real long time. When I came across it recently, I noticed that one of the legs of the prong (I can't tell whether it's the negative or the positive though my gut says that it's the positive lead) has become so oxidized that it turned green. The same thing happened with the two included metal leads that this unit is compatible with. I'm not sure if these leads broke off, but they appear to be able to be fitted to the circular hole at the edge of this instrument, but I really can't say for sure. Whenever I try putting them in there, they simply wiggle off and manage to fall out. What I can say is that these two slightly bent metal probes with the plastic tip on them have become so rusty that I doubt they're still able to work. One of them was practically eaten up with all the rust that overtook it. I tried polishing them both up with a wire brush wheel on a rotary tool to no avail. They will need to be sandblasted and repainted if they're still salvageable, or perhaps it would just be better for these leads to be replaced somehow... that is, if it can be done. I'm not really so sure. This item appears to be vintage as its designed for cassette tapes, cartridges (I'm assuming 8 track tapes there) and reel to reel tape applications. It's also made by Radio Shack/Tandy Corp., Co. with the Realistic label also visible on it. The gold foil on which all this lettering/information has faded a bit in some areas (most likely do to the alcohol based cleaning fluid spilling onto it). The unit is also off white; though I believe that it's yellowed from age. There's a tactile switch on the end of it near the cable and it measures approximately 1 & 3/16" wide by 6 & 1/16" long (without the probe attached to it) and 6/8" tall. Since I can't really test this unit out to ensure that it still works, I'm simply selling it in as-is condition and pricing it to move for anyone out there with enough know how on how to fix these types of things; that is... if it's broken. I personally don't think it's wise to test it with that plug in the shape that it's in. Anyways, please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade. Seller's Terms Immediate payment is required for this item listing.
