Description: Group of 2 artist books by Giorgio Lucini about the Italian artist Antonio Calderara. Both are titled Racconto di Un Pittore and published by Galleria Levi, Milano (Milan), Italy. They were published in 1969 on the occasion of an exhibit at Levi of Calderara's photography. The taller book notes that it was done in a run of 1,000 copies, but this one is not individually numbered. Taller book (with picture of Calderara on the front) is 5 x 3.5 inches and is illustrated throughout in black and white, and also includes introductory essays in Italian. The other book is 4.25 inches square and is sort of a flip book that's made up of a series of die-cut sheets with Calderara's portrait in the middle. In good condition: clean contents and sound bindings; both with rubbing, creasing, edgewear and general handling to the wraps; the worst instance is a scrape at the lower right corner of the front wrap of the taller book. A fun set from the prime days of Italian post-modernism.
