QUEEN BESS II Silver COVERED Vegetable DISH 1946 Tudor Plate ONEIDA Community 2

Description: Offered for sale is a Silverplate Covered Vegetable Server in the 1946 Queen Bess II Patternby Oneida Community Silver Tudor Plate This oval two-part double server was designed to match the popular Queen Bess II silverplate flatware that ONEIDA introduced in 1946. It is called a "double server" because a home chef can use the lid as a second serving dish if desired. While the silverware utensils (forks, spoons etc.) often appear on the market, the hollowware / serving pieces are pretty hard to find and fun to have, especially if this is your flatware or silverware pattern. This piece was briefly mentioned in 1950's newspaper advertising for the complete Queen Bess line. (see ad in images, "Double Veg. Dish")This serving dish features the matching florals used on the silverware in a gadroon scroll around the rim of the dish. This piece is pretty scarce, not even Replacements has it notated in their extensive database. This has just been polished, so I can state that it is shiny and bright and really looks nice. The silver plating seems of higher quality than other makers. Naturally, there are minor scratches that are appropriate for it's age, but I see no area of silver loss. The underside is marked Queen Bess Tudor Plate Oneida Community and estimated value is 149.00 for one in perfect condition. I always pack well with bubble wrap, foam and peanuts and ship several times a week. I usually ship within 24 hours as a rule.
