The Pomegranate will survive on total neglect once established and still give loads of sweet fruit in zones 7 to 9. This tree thrives on the poorest of soils and drought like conditions. Give Pomegranates just a little water and they are a great performer. Pomegranate Wonderful can be trained as a 20 foot tree or left as a sprawling shrub. Because they can be quite thorny they are often kept to 10 feet and used for security fences with fruit. Punica granatum Wonderful is self fruitful and doesnt require another pollinator.
