Description: This 1948 mono album is one of the first Long Playing Microgroove issues in "Nonbreakable Vinylite" from Columbia Masterworks (ML 4037), and features a performance of Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, Opus 100 by the Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of New York, conducted by Artur Rodzinski. Album notes are in English by Paul Affelder. The outer sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2). Its construction is heavy paper, not cardboard, and has two separate taped repairs across the bottom. It has a fold-down dust flap across the top opening that has separated about 2" in from the right end in Photo 2 (just above the index sticker). The name "Swain" is handwritten on the front just above the LP logo at upper right (Photo 1). This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear. Due to its age (76 years old in 2024), we have played this album in full on a Thorens TD 126 Mk III turntable recently, and verified that it is clean and in good condition with no skips. NOTES:Album sleeves may have a small index sticker, usually in the upper right corner of the back, which was applied when the album was first purchased for this private collection. Please be sure you know the Shipping charge to your address before bidding.
