Not so the new T2 Super Phono from Pro-Ject! The T2 Super Phono turntable enhances Pro-Ject's critically acclaimed T1 turntable formula. It introduces new audiophile features and sets a higher standard of performance in its price range, including a built-in preamp that's the equal of an external MM phono preamp. Highest Quality Materials The elegantly crafted CNC-machined plinth has been expanded in size to enhance stability and is available in striking finishes such as High Gloss Black, Satin White, or Walnut. It boasts a construction free of plastic components and meticulous manufacturing that eliminates any hollow spaces within, effectively preventing unwanted vibrations within the chassis. Compared to the T1, the glass platter is heavier and thicker, ensuring a zero-resonance design that effectively eliminates the shortcomings associated with plastic or lightweight steel alternatives. Complementing these improvements, purpose-selected turntable feet effectively isolate the T2 from ambient vibrations present in the vicinity of your hi-fi system. New Tonearm And Anti-Skating The T2 Super Phono's tonearm has been improved for better cartridge geometry. Still a one-piece aluminum design, its effective length has been upgraded to 9". And it adds an updated low-friction bearing to accommodate the increased length and diameter for absolute accuracy in use. Aside from clean aesthetics, the integrated headshell is a key player in minimizing armtube resonance (bonded headshells have adverse effects in terms of resonance). The T2 Super Phono also features user-friendly spring-based anti-skating for fast and accurate setup. Since the Sumiko Rainier is factory-aligned with the tracking force set, simply turn the wheel to your desired value and you're done with tonearm adjustments! Premium Built-In Phono Stage The T2 Super Phono implements a high-quality dual-stage split-passive MM phono preamp (first seen in Pro-Ject's critically acclaimed T2 W). The larger plinth allows greater space for more and better circuitry in the junction box. Pro-Ject took maximum advantage of this opportunity and designed a circuit that leaves other built-in MM phono stages in the dust! Supplied with a high-value Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge, this is a true hi-fi playback system with no corners cut. Keep in mind that the preamp circuit can be disengaged with the push of a button should you wish to upgrade to a low-output MC cartridge. Advanced Motor And Drive System The motor and drive system of the T2 Super Phono are identical to those found in the T1. The motor drives a belt system, connected to Pro-Ject's newly designed sub-platter exclusive to the T-line. This sub-platter is mounted on an ultra-precise 0.001mm main bearing with a hardened steel axle and brass bushing. Where most alternative products may use un-regulated DC motors with wide speed fluctuations, the T2 Super Phono features Pro-Ject's proven system of an electronically regulated, precision-speed AC motor. The T2 Super Phono also comes with electronic speed switching between 33 and 45 RPM. The result is a low-noise, stable drive system for the turntable. Rainier MM Cartridge The acclaimed Sumiko Rainier MM Phono cartridge synergizes beautifully with the built-in phono stage. The cartridge is factory-aligned with the tracking force set. Rainier achieves even-handed, honest, rich and full sonics with no sacrifice in detail retrieval. This is done through resonance control, which delivers the sonic signature of Sumiko's latest Oyster cartridges that have taken the world by storm. Semi-Balanced Phono Cable, Dust Cover The T2 Super Phono is finished with super shielded, semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cables, purpose-designed by Pro-Ject – not off-the shelf RCA cables. There is also a dust cover for extra protection and a felt mat to protect your records, along with a 45rpm adapter for playing your singles.
