Description: Press Photo Actress Eva Bartok - syp10381 This is an original press photo. All movie news doesn't have a Hollywood date line. Stars, crews and directors are working literally around the world, some for the extra impact a location provides, some just to use up frozen currency in foreign countries. For the latter reason, Warner Bros. are making "The Crimson Pirate," starring Burt Lancaster in a swashbuckling role, on an island in the Bay of Naples. Burts co-star is Eva Bartok, a 22-year-old Hungarian refugee, playing her first movie lead. AP reporter Sydney Mirkin journeyed out to the ancient Spanish galleon to see her. "Little Eva has won the admiration of veteran movie producer Norman Deming and director Robert Siodmak by her courage and spirit," says Mirkin. Singing high over the deck of the ship in a tiny bosun' chair while "pirates" climb frantically after her holds no terrors for Eva. Her only reaction when she was lowered to the deck after an hour of swaying to the rhythm of the breezes that send the ship sailing through the blue sea was: "There's a lovely cool breeze up there." Eva off screen is an Auburn haired brown eyed beauty with a friendliness that has everyone she meets feeling like an old friend. Her figure is the kind most men dream about and women diet for unsuccessfully. Eva's first scenes were enough to get her a long term one picture a year contract. Her bosses, Deming and Siodmak, say her personality comes through even stronger through the eyes of the color camera than in real life. Deming, 34 years in the film industry, muses: "I think we've really got something in this girl." Eva Bartok... new face at Warners. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated --none.
