President William Henry Harrison Death John Tyler 1841 Washington D.C. Newspaper

Description: President William Henry Harrison Death John Tyler 1841 Washington D.C. Newspaper Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: KENDALL'S EXPOSITOR, Washington, D.C., April 7, 1841 * President William H. Harrison * Washington D.C. death - John Tyler  This was an uncommon title which lasted but 4 years. The prospectus (not here) notes it was a semi-weekly devoted to "...the security of the right of suffrage by additional laws to punish bribery & fraud...an exposure of abuses & corruptions in government..." and more. Amos Kendall was Postmaster General under Andrew Jackson, later publishing this small, bi-weekly newspaper from 1841-1844 He was very pro-democrat and anti-Whig. Near the back is more than a full page taken up with text concerning the death of Wm. H. Harrison and the report on his successor, John Tyler. The Harrison article is black-bordered & headed: "DEATH OF THE PRESIDENT" then: "This melancholy event occurred on Sunday morning lat, the 4th instant...REPORT OF THE PHYSICIANS...President Harrison, after several day' preview indisposition, was seized with a chill  & other symptoms of fever. The next day pneumonia, with congestion of the liver & derangement of the stomach & bowels, was ascertained to list. The age & debility...forbade a resort to general blood-letting...Finally on the 3d of April, at 3 o'clock P.M., profuse diarrhea came on, under which he sank, at 30 minutes to 1 o'clock...The last words uttered by the President...were these: 'Sir, I wish you to understand the true principles of the government. I wish them carried out I ask nothing more.' " More content, than a report beginning: "JOHN TYLER, the Vice President, will now be the acting President...". Great to have this detailed account in a newspaper from the nation's capital, where he died. Complete in 16 pages, 5 3/4 by 8 3/4 inches, nice condition. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original! Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautiful or ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at Historys Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Womens Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction. Domestic Shipping Policy... For this specific item, A U.S. winner pays $6.00 S&H.
