Description: Wow! This is a mystery. Received this mug with a lot of other pottery from my grandmother , whom was quite a traveler. With the help of Jeff Oestreich , the amazing Potter , who contacted me and graciously told me that it was not his work but his published glaze, my best guess was that this mug came from England. He also told me this glaze was used in the Penland School of Crafts - Seacrest black. St Ives? Devon? Cheltenham? Bernard Leach? Jeremy Leach? Finch? Could be a myriad of people or their apprentices. Let me tell you what I know of this mug. The glaze is gorgeous. Deep rich almost velvety. After handling it awhile I realized it’s really comfortable in the hand and while I first thought the little curl on top of the handle was purely decorative, I now believe it was well thought out and acts as almost a counterweight, for balance. One thing is clear, it is quality, thoughtful and beautiful work. The last picture is for reference only and is just a short list of the many people who may have worked on this mug.( except for Jeff) . Will pack with care. See pics. 2653
