Description: Original 1910s USA One Sheet RE-Issue theatrical STOCK poster (27 x 41 inches) on Linen Backing, used for advertising purposes in movie cinemas, very early in the "SILENT ERA. GOOD- condition. See Photo. The poster showed fold wear with chipping on the folds and chipping in the borders. There was also a bottom missing left corner. These defects are still apparent after the poster has been linen backed. Charlie Chaplin's popularity exploded during his meteoric rise to stardom with his Keystone shorts in the early 1910s, and his films were rampantly reissued by theatres around the U.S. throughout the rest of the 1910s and into the 1920s. Distributors then began producing stock one sheets for these Chaplin reissues featuring a standard design of Chaplin holding a cigarette while leaning against a post, with the title of whichever film placed in the title area. This stock one sheet is for Chaplin's 1914 short Cruel, Cruel Love, his ninth film with Keystone Studios.
