Description: Here is a standard US made SSI for the US Forces Austria. The red/white/red background are the Austria national colors that are seen in the Austrian flag and the cockade. The blue sword and olive branch seem to indicate readiness for war or peace and probably speak to the goals of the occupation at the end of World War II. I do not know if the crest / patch is original for the 1945 - 1955 time frame. I can verify that it has not been sewn on a uniform and that it s in very nice condition. I personally have had it for about 20 years. Appr 2 1/4" x 3".
