Shelley Winters is an ex-swimming champ married to Jack Albertson. It's one of her heaviest roles in both senses of the word. Ernest Borgnine is a detective with an ex-prostitute wife (Stella Stevens). Gene Hackman gets top billing as a minister. With Carol Lynley as a "pop singer", Red Buttons, Roddy McDowall, Angela Cartwright, Arthur O'Connell, Pamela Sue Martin, and Leslie Nielsen as the captain.
