Description: This is a nice and old Maori Kotiate ceremonial hand club. It was manufactured in the very late 19th century to very early 20th (1890s - 1920). This specimen has a dry surface patina and quite a lot of age cracks here and there. Hard wood species with anaged dark brown to dark golden hue. We believe this Kotiate was left incomplete at the time it was collected. There's an interesting Maori Tiki ancestor face ( tongue sticking out) at the handle's end. It's a wonderful historic Maori artifact and it looks much better in person!!! Measurements: Length is 12.5 inches; width is 6 inches.
