Description: Hi! PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND IN ITS ENTIRETY! (I get paid by the word. Don't I wish!) So in August 2020, after I had left the mall, where I had two carts for more than 22 years selling Pokemon cards and plush, paperback books, and Beanie Babies--I went to my warehouse and tried to get organized to start selling full time on eBay. At one point, I noticed an unmarked box--I usually mark my boxes with a black magic marker so I know what is in them but this time I didn't so I started to pick it up. It was HEAVY. Must have weighed 55 pounds. I got out my trusty pen knife and proceeded to open it. What is this, I asked myself, so I probably don't need a question mark at the end of this sentence. Do I? Anyway, I looked inside and then it hit me. Back in late 1999 or early 2000, I had purchased from Wizards of the Coast 60 copies of Volume 2, Number 2 of Top Deck magazine, which Wizards used to promote Magic the Gathering and this new trading card game called Pokemon. That's what you are buying--a magazine. The sealed magazine also includes a sealed 6" x 8" Pikachu promo card. (I have sold these separately a number of times on eBay for $48.88 each.) This Pikachu promo ONLY was distributed through the magazine. That makes it quite rare. The magazine also features a sealed FOSSIL booster pack. So, after I had sold several of these on eBay in late 2020, I decided to open a few of the magazines and weigh the packs. (That was the first time I ever weighed a Pokemon pack.) The first pack was heavy--over 21.00 grams. Gee, I thought, that was lucky. Then I opened a second magazine and that pack was heavy, too! Then I opened a third magazine--and, you guessed it, that Fossil pack was heavy, too! Could Wizards have put a holo in every pack of that issue of the magazine? So, I opened a fourth magazine and weighed the Fossil pack--heavy again! The same thing happened with the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth packs! I couldn't believe it. The same thing happened with my next 11 packs. ALL 20 PACKS I HAD OPENED WERE HEAVY. Could they have done that with all 60 magazines in that box and other boxes of the same issue? I don't guarantee that the Fossil pack sealed in the magazine is heavy, of course, because the next 40 packs in the magazine could be light weighted since that would exactly equal the one pack to three ratio of holos to non-holos. Your guess is as good as mine. Forget that for a moment. What are SEALED copies of this magazine with the sealed Fossil pack and the oversized Pikachu promo going to be worth in 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? How the heck should I know? In the immortal words of the late great screenwriter and novelist William Goldman, "Nobody knows nothing." I do know this. I have seen prices asked for this sealed magazine go for as high as $1,000. Is that a good price? It is if you want it. My price is $498.00. LAST TIME I LOOKED, I WAS THE LOWEST PRICE ON EBAY. And, as of June 7, 2024, I believe I still am. By far. And there aren't many of this magazine left unopened on this planet. Doubt if there are many on other planets as well! 1) No discount. I hardly ever offer lower prices on any of my Buy It Now listings. The price is $498.00 if you want it. If you don't want it, you would be overpaying by $498.00. 2) Please add $16.40 for insured shipping with signature required if you live in the continental U.S. 3) I plan to sell two or three or more of my remaining sealed magazines in 2024. This is one of them. (As you may know, I am leaving at least 90% of all my remaining Pokemon to my four children.) 4) Payment is due within four days of purchase. If you can't afford this, please do not buy it. 5) Paypal preferred but other forms of payment are fine, too. 6) I am proud of my eBay feedback, encompassing more than 7,600 separate transactions over the past 23 years. 7) I specialize in hard to find but affordable memorabilia and collectibles with primary focus on five things: sports cards, framed and unframed photos, rare Beanie Babies, Marilyn Monroe items (somebody has to do it!) and Pokemon cards and plush. If you have a few minutes, please check out my other items. I also have weekly auctions on English, Japanese and occasionally French and Spanish Pokemon packs starting at 88 cents with no reserve. 8) If you have a question, please ask. 9) The most important rule of all--DON'T FORGET RULE NUMBER ONE. Thanks for your interest. You have now probably read more in the last three minutes than the Orange Menace (rhymes with rump) has in his entire adult life. Not kidding. Mask up indoors. It can't hurt. Jerry P.S. I believe I have priced this too low since I have sold more than two dozen of them. P.P.S. They teach in every business school in the world to "buy low and sell high." WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. For the past 33 years, I have learned--sometimes the hard way--to "buy high and sell higher." Anytime, I see a price of something in the collectible world go down, I stay away. Everytime I see a price go up, I am interested. In collectibles, there is no such thing as supply and demand. IT IS DEMAND AND DEMAND. Don't be afraid of a price rising. That means there is demand. Do you think demand for rare Pokemon will be going down in the next 10 years? I don't. We have only just begun. A smart investor is sometimes wrong, but is never afraid. AS OF JUNE 28, 2024, I HAVE ONLY FOUR LEFT TO SELL.
