Description: The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott, Bart., containing Lay of the Last Minstrel, Marmion, Lady of the Lake, Don Roderick, Rokeby, Ballads, Lyrics, and Songs. Pubished in 1845 by D. Appleton & Co., New York (only 13 years after Scott's death). Hardcover in gilt-decorated, teal-colored boards and spine, all edges gilt, 624 pages, 4.5 X 6.5 X 1.5 inches. Inside are 8 tissue-guarded, black and white illustrations and a decorative title page. The engravings are by "Chas. Heath." Very good condition. Unmarked, tightly bound, mildly worn copy. Spine head is just beginning to fray, one board corner is lightly rubbed. Gilt is still bright and distinct. The illustrations and tissue-guards show some foxing/oxidation stains, and there's very light foxing on some pages inside, as well, less than average for the age of the book. One of the oxidation stains on the 2nd title page has a tiny perforation in it. A well preserved volume. Free shipping in the USA. Thanks for looking! Loc: glass shelves.
