The base is glazed ceramic that used to be a candle holder. The perfect gift for yourself, a seamster, seamstress - family or friend. One of a kind. Eco-friendly. Weight: 1 lb. 5 ozs. Dimensions: 8" high and 5 1/2" wide at the cushion. Base: Ecofriendly! Base is originally a PartyLite candleholder. It still had the sticker on it when I bought it. It is in pristine condition. The glazed ceramic is shiny. The pattern is Dutch/country design; yellow background with muted greens, maroons, orange and lavender. I added new felt circles on the bottom of the base to protect your furniture. No cracks, no dents, no scratches. A beautiful vintage piece re-created into a pincushion. Cushion: Wine/maroon velvet. Stuffed with premium polyester fiberfill. Over-size cushion that hold tons of pins, large and small. Embellished with antique white colored ruffled lace, adorned with small pearl beads. All new materials. Emery: I made the emery with authentic emery sand. Beautiful gold color metal ornate cap attached to the emery made with maroon velvet. The emery is attached to maroon satin cording that ties to a ribbon tab hidden under the lace, at the base of the cushion. The emery can be removed. The emery is for cleaning hand-sewing needles, and it works! All new materials. Beautiful enough to be on a table in any room. I have an over-size pincushion myself. I sew every day and I LOVE mine.
