Description: Piet Mondrian (born Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan; Amersfoort, March 7, 1872-New York, February 1, 1944) was a Dutch avant-garde painter. He was a member of the De Stijl movement and founder of neoplasticism, along with Theo van Doesburg. He moved from naturalism and symbolism to abstraction, of which he is the main inaugural representative along with the Russians Vasili Kandinski and Kazimir Malevich.
