Description: Photograph Notes: Castle Ellen House was built in 1810 when it became the country residence of the Lambert family, although the nearby old castle on the estate had been their home before that for many generations. Isabella Lambert was among the many children born to Peter Lambert and Eleanor Seymour at the "new" house, who went on to marry a Mr Edward Carson. Their son Edward, became Sir Edward Carson who would spend most of his school holidays with his mother Isabella Lambert at Castle Ellen. Carson of course went on to become a very important figure in Irish/British politics, being heavily involved in events in Ireland between 1910 and 1921. As a lawyer he was also involved in the Jack the Ripper case, and the Oscar Wilde trial. Castle Ellen House has been undergoing restoration for the last 40 years, having been purchased by Michael Keaney who single-handedly has saved the house for future generations. The work is by no means complete, and is very much a work in progress (particularly the house interior and outbuildings). Michael welcomes visitors to the house during the summer months of June - August. ://castleellen.ie/ ://buildingsofireland.ie/buildings-search/building/30408401/castle-ellen-castle-ellen-galway ://52.18.205.240/property/679 [[4075250]] Product Description: You will be buying a Photograph produced using professional photographic lab equipment and printed on high quality photographic paper.
