Description: ERNEST and OLA CHILLSON, a young married teaching couple from the CLAY CENTER, INDIANA area, secured a three year U.S. GOVT. contract to teach school in the PHILIPPINES, starting around 1930. They took pictures and made real photo postcards while there. Ernest started teaching out teaching at the TEACHERS TRAINING SCHOOL, in the province of ALBAY. The teaching couple lived in the Captains Quarters in the Officers Barracks; a military building from the U.S. Occupation Era. After one year the couple moved near Manila, and Ernest taught at the AMERICAN SCHOOL there. Ola also held teaching positions all three years. After three years, this dedicated couple returned to the U.S.A., where the GREAT DEPRESSION awaited them. Ernest died in 1961. Ola, her memory incredibly sharp, added information to many card and photo backs during the later 1960s. Study my pictures for condition, and also refer to condition box above.
