PKD inspired art by Kyle Romberg.2x PKD art pins/buttons, 1" each, PKD inspired art by Brent Houzenga1x PKD art sticker, 3"x2", PKD inspired art by Brent Houzenga About the PHOTOCOPIED letter: THIS IS A PHOTOCOPY of a typewritten, hand-signed letter from the science fiction author Philip K. Dick, addressed to "Dear Claudia ". Dated March 4, 1975. The letter is single-spaced spanning 2 pages. There are 92 typewritten lines plus the handwritten signature: Love Phil, with the arrow/heart penned also. The letter has been reprinted in "The Selected Letters of Philip K. Dick 1975" [Underwood-Miller 1991, pp. 129-31]. Not only does this PHOTOCOPY show his signature, but it also shows editing after the fact in the form of corrections for punctuation and spacing. Additionally, this has a typed P.S. and handwritten PPS that were NOT included in the book. Why Underwood/Miller didn't at least include the typed PS, I have no idea. In this letter, Phil quotes 3 passages from SFS written by Jameson. He considers Jameson to be brilliant in his criticism of his work, with Jameson 'alluding that somehow language is a set in which salvation can overcome the evil of physical power'. Phil begins to draw parallels between the Greek Plays at the time of the theater in Athens, where they were chanted and sung, to the Prose of modern times. He really gets to the meat of it at the end, when he writes: '... General Semantics, is totally insane. Words are real – if coupled with something else. They are signals. Like when you see a red light along the road. It is real, but it refers to something, a context. But to say, That red light is an illusion, is to deny the reality of the context as well: and the power of that context to give or take life.' The pages are preserved in an acid-free archival bag, each facing out with an acid-free backing board between them, making each page readable without having to remove and handle them. About the Ultramarine PKD Checklist: This is a great alternative to the more expensive and collectible PKD bibliographies out there. Covers novels AND stories by PKD, organized by type, and also with an index. Includes points-of-issue for identifying true 1st edition and cover art info in some cases. Personally, I use 3-4 resource materials including this, and this checklist here remains relevant and dense with information. The Ultramarine checklists are well researched, short and to the point. Suitable for on the go book scouting, at your desk as reference, and for marking up as a collector taking notes. A great resource material. About the PKD Universe display piece: Artist Kyle Romberg kindly allowed me to use his PKD inspired art as part of this display item. It's made of a hard, solid epoxy with added UV resistant inhibitors to prevent yellowing or other changes over time. It weighs in at approx 4.6oz, measures JUST UNDER 4” (semi)square, and approx. ½” thick around the border, with a slight recession for placing a cup or whatever you wish. Originally, when I first thought of having this made, it was strictly as a coaster, however, once I had it in hand other possibilities opened up. A desk, table or bookshelf display piece is a great way to show this. Also, it's light enough that it can be mounted and hung on a wall. If you do hang it, hang SECURELY. Although it's durable, falling and hard landings are not recommended. Possible uses: Coaster for cupsDesk/Shelf/Table display, stands on endMount/hang on a wall as art or as if it were a photoLimit is your own imaginationCAVEATS to use: Hand wash with water as needed. DO NOT put in a dishwasher or other high heat cleansing machine. These are handmade, poured, set and cured. There is an overall uniformity to them, but some edges may not be perfectly level and so standing up in some cases may see a lean. IF standing is your desire, indicate so and I’ll make sure what I pack stands straight. Most are perfect for this, although there are a handful of outliers (and that can be remedied by you as well). ALL are suitable for coasters. As for hanging on a wall, be sure to securely mount when hanging. I have one mounted on my wall which is painted, and it fell once due to the sticky not gripping firmly. The piece didn’t break, but these are NOT indestructible. Make sure you hang securely. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success.
