Phil Spector Spectacular PHILLES Promo LP ALTERNATE Acetate Ronettes Bob B Soxx

Description: The Phil Spector Spectacular 1973 Alternate Acetate with The Ronettes and Bob B Soxx and The Alley Cats This is THE white label ALTERNATE ACETATE for the extremely rare promo only Phillies Records compilation LP described below. This acetate features songs that Phil Spector recorded from The Ronettes, Bob B. Soxx & the Alley Cats and The Treasures that he considered for inclusion on the final version of the Phil Spector Spectacular. There is no letter or signature with this acetate. Photos of the red and yellow labeled regular promotional release of this record are offered only to COMPARE WITH the track listing of the acetate. The red and yellow label promotional release is not included in this sale, but it is available separately at this time. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................... In 1972, there was virtually no availability of any of the hit records that Phil Spector produced in the 1960s. Nothing was available and everything was out of print. After the relative failure of Ike and Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" to capture the AM radio markets in the late 1960s, Spector withdrew from the music. All of the Philles Records went out of print. However there was an intense demand from the radio station industry for fresh pressings of the 1960s Phil Spector hits. So Spector had a few of these special promotional albums pressed to respond to this request from a handful of prominent radio programmers exclusively for these previously released hit records because most existing radio station copies were worn out, no longer available, or in such bad condition that the records simply could no longer be played on radio airwaves. These special promotional pressings were to be sent out, with typed letter personally addressed to specific individuals that Spector thought were worthy of getting one of these discs but the discs were never sent out by Spector. These letters were signed in red/orange magic marker by Phil Spector himself. The letter Reads: In a plain white card sleeve with typed letter on Phil Spector Productions / 9130 Sunset Boulevard / Los Angeles. "Over the years, I've received requests for many of the original single recordings that I produced when I actively ran Philles Records featuring such artists as the Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, The Crystals, Ike and Tina Turner, Darlene Love, and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans. Because so many of these recordings are practically impossible to obtain, and because a vast majority of the requests were from people in the field of broadcasting who have been kind enough to ask and who made these records successful in the beginning, I've put together 18 of these best selling and most requested original recordings on this one album for programming purposes only and not for sale or any other distribution at this time. I would like to thank those of you who still think of these recordings, and should you wish to program any of them, I do hope they bring some pleasure and happy memories to you and your listeners". In the 1990s less than ten copies of the Phil Spector Spectacular surfaced. One of the copies sold for several thousand dollars. A couple of copies have also surfaced without the signed letter. This promo only Philles Records with a signed letter has not been seen on the record market in years. The promo disc is now one of the rarest records ever released by Phil Spector.
