Description: Sephadex G-25 Coarse is well established gel filtration medium for desalting and buffer exchange of biomolecules >5,000 molecular weight. This is the dry solid form, with particle size range 100 - 300 µm. After 3 h of hydration, this will swell to 4 - 6 mL/g powder. Protein solutes in the 1,000 - 5,000 Da range will be partly included in the hydrated bead volume and, in principle, size resolution can be achieved, although typically one would use a matrix with more homogeneous bead size for this purpose. This bottle contains vintage Sweden-made gel filtration medium. Sephadex is made of cross-linked dextran, which doesn't seem to care much about the passing of time, so long as it is unused and dry, as this item is. So while this item has been stored at room temperature for decades, it would probably be difficult to identify any performance difference from Sephadex currently sold by a company that has been renamed a few times.
