Description: Petite Point Purse with Folly on Jeweled Brass Frame, frame measures 6 ½ inches across, purse measures 8 ½ inches from bottom to top of catch, chain measures 15 inches long, unmarked, probably early 1900’s, probably European maybe French, wear to metallic covered binding trim between front and back panels and bottom panel, chain handle has old repair on one link, another link has a missing half, a link at one end is attached to the end link through the wrong side, 2 links have ½ of their loop missing but are still attached to the chain but with sharp points extending where the missing piece is, the handle is silver colored and while it has age it seems unusual to have been on a brass frame but this is how it came from an estate, the original lining is beige silk with one pocket, there are no stains or tears and a hint of old perfumed sachet from storage, the purse front and back have the same design of a garden “Folly” surrounded by flowers on an olive ground which matches the bottom band, beautifully crafted with no holes or stains, the frame is pressed brass and the links for the handle and the decorative catch for the ball link are not soldered but have tail ends that are punched through the brass, the ball catch is also punched through, the catch and the handle links are tight, but the decorative catch is loose so that it has a little movement to it though it is not in danger of falling off, there is an embossed floral design on the back of the frame, but the front is fully decorated with an applied design that has different size and shaped settings holding different size and shaped and colored stones from the hinges to the center clasp, very colorful with a lot of thoughtful detail.
