Description: General Frank Kendall ''Pete'' Everest Jr. [1920 2004] was a United States Air Force officer and prominent test pilot during the 1950's. Everest began his military career in 1941 and flew combat missions in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, China and was credited with two aerial victories and was also shot down and held as a prisoner of war. In 1946 he was transferred to the U.S. Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base where he became the chief Air Force test pilot. Everest tested all of the newly designed experimental aircraft which included the X-1,2,3,4, and the X-1 Bell which he flew to a record Mach 2.3. In 1966 he deployed to Southeast Asia and flew 32 combat missions. Listed for auction is a photograph signed by Pete Everest Jr. The photograph is a great image of Bell X-1A aircraft, and the autograph is signed ''Pete Everest'' in black felt pen. The photograph measures 10.00 x 8.00 inches and is in fine condition and is ideal for display. The autograph has been authenticated by Zarelli Space Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity.
