Description: Pet Shroud / Burial Garment / Wrap - 14” Size - for Natural/Green Burial Biodegradable - made from a blend of natural fibers Size: The outer part of the shroud is approximately 14 ½” x 14 ½”; bottom pocket is 19” across x 13” and 13” for the sides of the triangle. Body length that can fit into this shroud is around 10-11”. Stuffed animal shown in the picture is approximately 10” length, 7” width and 3” thick. This shroud is NEW / never used and is made in a non-smoking home. Because we have several rescue cats and dogs who are very curious about the noise the sewing machine makes and who sometimes hop up on my sewing table, this garment may sport an occasional stray piece of kitty or doggie fur. This shroud is a cream (beige or natural) color and the material used is a blend of natural fibers - 50% bamboo and 50% cotton. The flecks, shadings, small dark spots, fiber pieces, and little “bumps” you see in the material are NOT flaws. They are small pieces of the natural and organic fibers that make up the material blend. (See photos.) The ribbon used is Acetate Satin (not as soft as polyester Satin ribbon) and is biodegradable. The softer poly Satin ribbons do not biodegrade as well as Acetate Satin. The sewing thread is a thin wrapped poly and is not so dense that it will not decompose well. While most fabrics will decompose over time, the materials used in making this shroud are designed to decompose / biodegrade at a much faster rate. I have tried to show this item (and the material from which it is made) through photos. All my shrouds - no matter what the size - are of the same design. Ribbon used in the photos is Satin (polyester). Acetate Satin ribbon is used on the actual shrouds. If you need additional photos, please contact me. About the shroud and the material: The material used to make the shroud is a non-woven and is more of a batting. It is NOT manufactured by tightly weaving cotton and bamboo fibers into a fabric. This bamboo/cotton material is not as sturdy as a woven fabric such as twill, denim, canvas and cotton/poly blends. While this material used in the shroud is not ultra-delicate, you do need to handle it rather gently so as not to stretch or tear it. As a garment made completely of natural fibers, it can and does wrinkle easily. If you feel you need to remove a few wrinkles before use, gently smooth the shroud with your hands. You can lightly iron the shroud and the ribbon with an iron set on delicate or silk. DO NOT USE A HOT IRON OR A STEAM IRON ON THIS SHROUD OR ON THE RIBBON OR THEY CAN MELT. I will include a small swatch of the fabric so you can test iron, handle and feel to understand the delicate nature of the fabric used. Instructions for use: Place the pet’s back feet and legs in the pocket. Bring the top of the shroud down toward the bottom and use the short ribbons to gently (ribbon may tear the fabric at the points where it is sewn if you use force to tie the ribbons) tie the top and bottom together. Smooth the shroud around the body. Fold one side of the shroud over the body and smooth. Bring the other side over the top and smooth. Use the two long ribbon pieces (not sewn to the shroud so you can place the ribbons where you want them) and gently tie around the shrouded body at about waist level and around the feet. If the shrouded body weighs over 15 or 20 pounds, and you do not wish to carry it in your arms, use a board or other flat moveable surface to move the body to where it will be placed for burial. Attempting to move a heavier shrouded body by lifting it by the shroud material can cause the material to stretch or tear. Use the sample piece of material I include to get an idea of the strength - or non-strength - of the material. I include a small card with the shroud (see photo that shows both the folded version and the open card version). Only 1 card is included with this item. There is enough room on the card for you to write in your pet’s name and a little personal message if you wish. The shroud pocket is roomy enough for your pet’s feet and some of the lower body and has enough room for you to include a small favorite toy and the small card. Shipping: Shipping is by USPS regular mail. I can also ship Priority and Express. I can ship next day (if USPS is not closed or on holiday) if I receive your payment by 6:00 pm Pacific Time. Open the bag, lay the shroud on a flat surface and gently smooth any wrinkles. NO RETURNS on this item.
