Description: Further DetailsTitle: Style!Condition: NewDescription: This is the group's second recording, released in 2000. This disc shows off the group's ability to sing many different musical styles. You'll hear a mix of 1940s-era vocal harmonies on 'Patty Cake, Patty Cake' and 'Mind If I love You', along with the gospel tune 'Turn Your Radio On'. Also included are songs sung in that great old barbershop style, 'If I were You (I'd Fall in Love With Me),' 'Style,' and 'Smilin' Through.' There are two wonderful solo turns, 'The River of No Return' and 'Anytime.' But the pièce de résistance is the group's award-winning signature musical routine, 'Salute to the 20th Century,' which is a humorous take on the de-evolution of music over the last century. Using the song 'Shine On Harvest Moon,' the group sings the song in all of the musical styles over the last 100 years, along with period introductions that will leave you wanting more. Some tracks are performed a cappella, some include vocals with tenor guitar or ukulele accompaniment, and one track features vocals along with the upright bass accompaniment of guest artist Dave Eastly. Once you've heard The Perfect Gentlemen, you won't settle for anything less! Who are The Perfect Gentlemen? The Perfect Gentlemen provide the perfect blend of harmony and humor in a family friendly show that harkens back to the days of Vaudeville. Preserving America's great vocal sounds from a time when music was music, The Perfect Gentlemen recreate the close harmonies of such legendary groups as The Ink Spots and the Pied Pipers, while including the era's great comic songs made famous by the likes of Louis Jordan and The Hoosier Hotshots. A typical performance by The Perfect Gentlemen showcases the group's versatility, allowing for effortless shifts between vocal styles with an air of ease, whether singing a cappella, accompanied by guitar or ukulele, or playing the antique Deagan Organ Chimes. Their signature piece, Salute to the 20th Century, is a humorous take on the de-evolution of music over the last century, illustrated by singing the same song in the style of Barbershop, Dixieland, Blues, Big Band, Doo-Wop, Bluegrass, Disco, Techno Punk, and Rap, complete with visuals that delights audiences of all ages time and time again. The Perfect Gentlemen is made up of four performers of unparalleled talent. Dan Jordan (Second Tenor) is a gold-medal winning lead singer with The New Tradition of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Jim Campbell (Bass) anchors the group with the low notes he has crafted as the long-time bass singer of the Dapper Dans of Disneyland. Tim Reeder (Baritone) brings to the mix his expert instrumental accompaniment (Ukulele/Tenor Guitar) and his composing talents from his years with the 1930's-era vocal jazz group Vocalworks. Phil Gold (First Tenor) rounds out the group with high notes honed with vocal quartets from the touring stage musicals of City of Angels and Forever Plaid. Together as The Perfect Gentlemen, these four entertainers complement each other in a way that is nothing short of perfect. Formed in 1998, The Perfect Gentlemen has performed shows in concert halls and fine arts venues all across the U.S., made several concert tours of the United Kingdom, played numerous cities across Brazil with Jazz Festival 2006, and headlined aboard cruise ships on the Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean International, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Television appearances include Gilmore Girls, the ESPY Awards, and Gene Simmons Family Jewels. In 2002, the group was named the "Best A Cappella Vocal Group" in the U.S. by winning the National Harmony Sweepstakes, also winning the David Lichtman Award for Best Original Arrangement with Salute to the 20th Century and being selected as the "Audience Favorite." Educational as well as entertaining, The Perfect Gentlemen perform their original show 100 Years of Harmony as part of the arts education rosters for the Los Angeles Music Center, Orange County Performing Arts Center's Arts Teach, Performances To Grow On, Young Audiences of Kern County, and Children's Creative Project, visiting close to one hundred schools over the last three years. They have sung with the Pacific Symphony and the South Coast Symphony, appearing as the barbershop quartet in a staged concert version of The Music Man for the latter. Major corporate clients have included Disney Entertainment Productions, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, among others. The Perfect Gentlemen have released three recordings: Beside Ourselves (1999), Style! (2000), and Room Service (2003/2009), along with a concert DVD: "Live!" in Paradise (2006). Their singing voices can also be heard as belonging to ghostly miners on Mystery Mine, a thrill ride at Dollywood, to four animated bioluminescent fish in the films Deepo's Undersea 3-D Wondershow at the Georgia Aquarium and A Fish Story at the Aquarium of the Pacific, and on a television commercial for retailer GameStop.
