Measures 24.75x 31.75 inches with the mat and frame. Wired and ready to hang up. Misattribution on plaque. Appears to be in overall very good condition considering its age; colors look rich, a few very tiny scattered surface imperfections/flecks, one area of debris under the glass in the lower right portion. Painting has not been removed from the original frame for further inspection. The frame has wear. Upon the buyer’s request, the painting can be removed from the frame and shipped securely in a flat cardboard envelope. He did landscape paintings of the Middle East and the Mediterranean coast with gouache. After he emigrated to the United States in 1893, he did paintings of the American wilderness with Native Americans. His artwork is exhibited in museums in France.Paul Pascal was born in 1839 Toulouse, France. His family were ébénistes (cabinet-makers). He grew up in North America, but he returned to France where he graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He began his career as a painter in Toulouse in the 1870s. By the 1880s, he moved to Paris, where he became a landscape painter.He mostly did landscapes of the Middle East, but also of Italy, the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees. He only painted with gouache.Pascal emigrated to the United States in 1893.
