Description: First edition, first printing hardcover of Paul Bowles' 1949 classic. This is an exceptionally clean, tight, attractive ex-library copy wrapped with a new facsimile dust jacket. Very Good overall condition. From a small college rather than a general public library, this copy has obviously seen very little use during its library tenure. Pages are unusually clean and unmarked. Binding is solid and tight. Cover is clean, square and sharp, showing no visible wear. Text block edges are lightly toned, as well as toning to paste-downs and flyleaves. Otherwise no major cosmetic calamities: no stains, no moisture issues, no tears etc. Contains the typical library remnants - card slot, a sticker, text block edge stamps, a clip of the original jacket flap partially pasted to front flyleaf, a couple other stamps. Nothing dramatic. All told, this remains a tight, attractive, nicely preserved copy that has aged mildly and evenly. Ships with USPS Media Mail in protective packaging.
