Description: The. only Mexicans who descend from the Purepecha Empire, the Patamban people have a ceramics tradition all their own. Immediately recognizable, Patamban pottery features bold, flat green images on large, simplistic chocolate brown forms. The themes illustrate village life and are often aquatic, reflecting the significance of romantic, cypress-filled Lake Camecuaro in the Patambans' daily lives. This imposing, statement-size serving tray ( 14 x 10") is emblazoned with an imposing frog image that covers the majority of its surface. Like all Patamban pottery, the rectangular piece is minimal in both form and decor. A few chunky brushstrokes framing the central vignette are the only concessions to embellishment. The powerful, graphic piece is in EUC with a bright, intact design and no apparent chips, cracks, crazing, fading or staining. ( This is just my personal observation, but I find Patamban pottery to be far less delicate than the typical Mexican redware pieces). Stunning, collectible ceramic will center any collection or display. Shallow server ships USPS Ground Advantage from Los Angeles. **Listed separately is a large, oval server with a fish motif. ( See last photo). I am happy to combine shipping if you are interested in both pieces. Thank you for considering my listings!
