Description: You are bidding on one cap for a Gage or Stanley Gage wood plane as pictured. It is unmarked.Width is about 2-1/2", and overall length is about 3-7/16". That is the length for a metal bodied plane, as the transitional caps are shorter. Included are the two sections, both little screws and washers that hold the sections together, and the large cap screw. Condition is fair to good, showing lots of wear including to the japanning, and the lower edge has been ground down. The back side has lots of patina (color) but no pitting, and head of the screw has some scratches. SHIPPING: Under 1 pound, shipped in a padded envelope, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance is included. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars?
