Description: This is an original oil painting, not a print. It is signed in the lower right corner “Burnett” in brown painted letters. Dimensions of the canvas are 24” High 36” Wide. It has a thin, simple, handmade, wooden slat frame around it. This piece may be an original that was painted by the artist Caroline Burnett, but we cannot confirm. It displays wonderfully when hung, depicting an early 20th century street scene in Paris, France. The perspective is from the intersection where Place Blanche ends at Boulevard de Clichy and included the original facade of Moulin Rouge with the windmill on the rooftop as well as marquee. Also seen is a corner flower vendor and what is believed to be the artist herself walking through the intersection in the middle of the scene with her husband. She was known to include herself and her husband in her paintings. Condition: This piece has some evidence of age and storage. The following issues are noted: — There are a couple of tiny white spots where the paint has been rubbed. Not noticeable unless looking for them and doesn’t detract from function or beauty. SEE PICS — This painting displays wonderfully when hung on a wall. BUT there is faint evidence of crazing in the paint attributed to age and storage. These are not noticeable when the painting is hung on a wall, HOWEVER, when we backlit this piece with natural daylight by placing it in front of a window, signs of aging in the form of fine cracks in the paint can be seen. SEE PICS Again, doesn’t detract from display when hung on a wall and not backlit, but we mention these noted issues in the spirit of being as thorough as possible in the description.
