Description: These remarkable Afghan spike bracelets were handcrafted during the early to mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe along the Old Silk Road of Central Asia. They are vintage tribal-jewelry, not new reproductions. More measurements and info are listed below at the end of this description. Their distinguishing features are sturdy spikes with rounded-tips that protrude out from the wrist. Some suggest that bracelets like these were worn by dancers to fend off overly enthusiastic admirers...I love the image! The hollow bands have incised design, accented with lots of bells and colorful beads. Pin-hinge clasps open and close fully for an easy fit around the wrist. Please note that the pins of the clasps have been replaced, and are not the originals...everything else is original. These bracelets were sturdily made, and do not bend. They are in excellent collectible condition, with a warm age-patina and mild wear patterns. Patina reflects the light when photographed, so items will look brighter in images than they really are.
