Description: Self made reproduction Red Army cotton calico foot wraps (portyanki), copied from originals in my own collection, these are the summer weight foot cloths, made of heavy calico and larger (and thinner) than the winter weight linen ones. Cut approximately 50 cm x 100 cm and, suitable to wear and use, or carry as spares in your pack. This fabric is the closest match to the weave of the original I have found so far, but slightly tighter weave. See close up picture for comparison. The weight and thickness is a very close match too. Just like the originals, the edges are raw, so expect fraying! After a couple of washes, these shrink down a bit, so if they appear too large at first, do not cut them down. I personally only cool wash them at 40 degrees C, they also soften up well, and fit better after washing. Shipped 2nd class signed for.
