Description: Pair of charming vintage Mid Century Persian silk embroideries in a folk art style. Each depict an interesting social scene of daily life. The embroidery sits slightly raised on the background with an almost 3D affect. 1) The Musicians Four musicians kneel on a carpet, each playing a different musical instrument. 2) Afternoon Coffee or Tea Ceremony A man and woman in a flower garden each kneel on their respective carpets. They sit across each other with a low table in the centre. A tea or coffee urn sits on the table along with a host of edible goodies. Both are framed in their original frames. They are each ready to hang. There are a few minor nicks in the frames but hardly noticeable. The embroideries themselves are in wonderful condition for their age with very little fading. The bright colours set off the relatively low key background. Some wonderful extra embroidery flourishes in both including grass, flowers and a decorative carpet. Overall, intricately embroidered.
