Description: Pair of Framed Painted Prints by Francois Boucher: Le Berger Endormie and Musette. 14" wide x 12" tall Frame Made in Italy Franois Boucher was a French painter, draughtsman and etcher, who worked in the Rococo style. Boucher is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century. This unique pair of original Italian signed works of art are framed and matted in gold leaf frames with original gilt brass antique labels adorned in the front as well as having antique paper labels with writings in original fountain pen etc. Given all that extreme care and detail and high quality gold leafing on the frames, I do not believe these are prints. The refined backing has not been disturbed or opened in 75 years or more. I want to preserve the integrity of this antique artwork and will not dismantle it to find out whether they are on paper. Given my low price and the fact that I believe these to be hand painted they are a great value collectible. However, unless they are dismantled I do not know for sure.
