Description: These pins measure approx. 1 1/4" and are in very good condition. They were made with their original pinback papers that were circa early 1900's and were put together at a later date, probably in the 1950's - a re-pin (a pin that was partially manufactured at the time of the campaign represented but which involved additional manufacture subsequent to that time). Chief Tamanend signed the peace treaty with William Penn and was a lover of peace and friendship. Also referred to as "Tammany", he became a popular figure in 18th century America and represented peace and amity. Tammany Societies were founded in Philadelphia; the most famous of these was New York City's Society of St. Tammany whose members developed an influential political machine known as "Tammany Hall". Great graphics with a union logo stamped onto their reverse sides. Thanks for looking at this auction.
