From a family estate of a gentleman's collection of gay and male related photographs and ephemera. Most items are from the early to mid 20th century and includes loose photographs as well as some pictures that were cut by the owner from an antique photo album. Digital Reprint 4"x6" snapshot of two sailors sharing a seat together in this studio portrait from the 1940s. One is dressed in a white uniform and the other black, both wearing "Dixie Cup" caps. I see that both men are wearing very large rings: the white uniform has his on the ring finger of his right hand, and the black uniform is wearing his on the ring finger of his left hand. I also see from the reflections in the photo that the man with the black uniform has a shiny manicure. I was immediately drawn to the happy expressions on both men's faces in this photo, as if nothing could possibly be wrong with the world in this moment.
