Description: This auction is for a pair of large vintage Vienna bronze parrots. I tried to identify the type, but the best I can come up with is Amazon parrot (stocky, short tale, reddish patch on forehead). I believe they were intended as a pair - one is larger and might presumably be the male of the pair. They came in a lot with 2 other Vienna bronze animals of similar vintage (a large rabbit and a pigeon). Neither one has a maker's mark, but the quality of their sculpting, casting, and painting is exceptional. I would estimate they date to the late 1800's, early 1900's, during the classic Vienna Bronze period. These parrots are large and heavy, a little over a pound for the pair. The larger one measures 2 14/16" to the top of his head, and about 4.25" tip of beak to tip of tail. The smaller one is 2.5" to the top of the head and about 3.5" long. They are solid cast. Note that in the last photo I show them with a Vienna bronze figure of a cat dressed as a fireman -- he stands 2.5" tall and is shown for size comparison only, he is not included in this auction. I use First Class (up to 16 oz) and Priority mail. Books ship media mail. I only charge actual postage - no added fees. I use lots of bubble wrap, peanuts, and good boxes. In a group of multiple pieces each item is wrapped individually. Original boxes or other original paper item go into a plastic bag in case you get delivery on a rainy day.
