Description: A pair of antique French Japonisme vases, beautiful examples of French Aesthetic Movement porcelain, with bamboo bases, relief birds and flowers and a butterfly and more. The vases were made by Gibus & Redon of Limoges between 1870 and 1881. If there is a maker's mark on the bottoms it is obscured by the blue paint, but this a documented model made by Gibus & Redon. It's hard to find a pair of these. The vases are just over 12.75 inches tall. There is some wear to the gold gilt, which is typical of French porcelain of this period. There are old touchups to the tip of one bird's wing and to one leaf (the tip of the pen is pointing to these), and a flea bite to a wing (the tip of the pen is pointing to this too). There is an approximately 2.75-inch-long hairline at the rim on one vase that is hard to see on the blue exterior (there are 2 pictures of the same hairline, 1 of the inside of the vase and 1 of the outside - it is the same hairline not 2 different ones). Please see the photos for details. Thank you for looking! j0 Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
