Description: Scarce early original vintage photographic album of photo lithographs taken along the Pacific Coast route of the Central Pacific & Southern Pacific railroads. This concertina (fan-folded) style album contain 20 panels with 41 captioned black & white photolithographic images (i.e original photographs printed through a lithographic process). See scans for caption information at bottom of each photograph. These photographic views were reproduced by Louis Glaser’s process using a series of stones laid down with separate shades of oil-based inks ranging from white to light sepia-grey to the darkest sepia-grey or black. The finished image has a varnished look, contributing to the illusion of depth not found in lithographs. The 20 panel accordion fold-out, was tipped-in to the verso of the front cover (see scans). Album measures 5 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches and is in very good condition except album covers have become separated from the spine (see scans).
