Description: Up for sale is an interesting, vintage oversized business card issued by a seamstress on the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca) who specialized in "lencieria, fantasia y bordado a mano" ["lingerie, fantasy and hand embroidery"]. I don't know if Mallorca is famous for lingerie or fantasy, but it definitely has had a reputation for embroidery. I believe that this card dates from the 1950s. At that time, the island was relatively unknown attracting less than 500,000 visitors per year. Currently, tourists number about 10,000,000 annually! The card is from Ana Maria (printed in script across the front). Her business was located in Palma de Mallorca (now called simply "Palma"), the largest city on the island. The address was 14 Conquistador (Street). In small print, we learn that Ana Maria was "sucesora" (successor) to Dolores Ribera, presumably the seamstress who previously owned the business. Ana Maria must have done well since she had one representative for ("representante para") Barcelona, Tarrasa and Sobadell and another for Valencia. This business card is oversized, measuring 13 cms (slightly over 5 inches) wide and 8.5 cms (just under 3.5 inches) tall. The front of the card has a ribbon decoration and the back of the card has the following written in pencil: Ana Maria CampinsConquistador 14Palma de MallorcaBaleares Espana NOTE: The term Baleares Espana refers to the Spanish Balearic Islands, which consist of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, along with many other smaller islands that are part of the archipelago located in the Mediterranean sea (east of Spain). Please see above for full description of condition and for photos. There are some condition issues. Sold as is. Attention US Buyers: I will ship this using USPS First Class letter (not a parcel).
